Dolphins Facts

Hi kids, today let us see some general facts about the dolphins the other mammals in the ocean next to whales.

Dolphins can swim at a speed of about 5 to 12 km/h. and they can swim up to 260 m under the ocean surface.

Dolphins can stay under the water for 15 minutes.

Echolocation is a technique used by the dolphins

Orca is the largest dolphin and is also called as “Killer Whale”.

They are warm blooded animals and can communicate efficiently.

Bottlenose dolphin is the most popular dolphin in the world.

The behavior of the dolphin at rest/sleep always depends on the circumstances and the individual preferences. Some will swim slowly and come to the surface now and then for a breath.

Sometimes they will simply rest at the ocean surface with their blowhole exposed.

And still some will rest on the bottom of the shallow water and come to the surface now and then to breath.
